Edmonton is an “understated” city in my opinion, so the existence of one of the only JWs in Canada in Edmonton already picked my interest. And after checking out The JW Edmonton, I have to say is definitely among the very best city hotels I have experienced.
Upon arrival from my road trip, the bell team greeted me and offered their help. When I mentioned I was going to return my rental car later and won’t park overnight, they gladly valeted my car free of charge for a few hours. I was walked to the front desk where Adrianna greeted me. We had an awesome chat about the (awful) weather and the city, and knowing it was my first stay, she took her time to go over literally everything the hotel has to offer, from bar to pool to arcade machines. She was able to find me an upgraded suite without me even asking, and walked me all the way to the elevators which was an awesome added touch.
My suite was just gorgeous. Both the living room and the bedroom were not only generous in size, but also very tastefully designed with local touches. I particularly liked the configurable lighting themes as well. The bathroom was also great with an oversized tub and separate shower room and toilet. A welcome card and some chocolate truffles were waiting for me in my room, which was very much appreciated.
The club lounge experience was also great – partially in that I didn’t expect the lounge to be open at all. Instead, the lounge was staffed throughout the day, and a range of good quality food and drink options and snacks were offered. I also enjoyed just sitting in the lounge and working away, as guest traffic was light and the view was as good as it would get in Edmonton.
Like Adriana mentioned at check in, the hotel had plenty to offer. I only got to enjoy a quick gym session, but the amount of other entertainment options available here was surprising in a good way.
If I have to pick on something during the stay, here is the only hiccup – I was also proactively offered a late check-out which I gladly took. It seemed like this was not communicated to housekeeping properly and I received a knock on my door at 3pm. The room attendant apologized profusely after realizing I had not departed, and it did not bother me at all as mistakes do happen.
This hotel was the final part of my trip and needless to say, the JW Edmonton ended my trip on a very high note. Thank you everyone at the JW – I will definitely see you again next time!
