Hotel4Real!

Being the one and only international chain hotel in Dandong, I had some expectations when I arrived. To be fair, the hotel met most of them.

The location was really unbeatable, pretty much just across the street from the train station and easily walkable to downtown core and Yalu River. My room was a corner room and the room rate was quite high, but I did find the room quite small. It was, however, tastefully designed, looked brand new and had an awesome view, I was able to see very far into North Korea which I did not expect at all.

The check-in and departure experience were less than ideal. I found the staff somewhat cold and judgmental, but that’s strictly my personal opinion. I also found the A/C quite underpowered, and humidity stayed very high throughout my stay.

That said, I liked my stay in general. By the look of it I still don’t have many options in Dandong when it comes to mid-to-high-scale hotels, so the HGI will do for now, but I look forward to trying something else when they become available.
