(short review)

Out of all the airport hotels I have experienced, the Westin YVR was among my favourites.

The hotel was located 10 minutes from the YVR. Arrival experience was great, Daniella helped me with check-in and she was very pleasant and informative. She was also very accommodating when I had to store my luggage for a few days as my aircraft was overweight.

View, nothing spectacular but perfect for plane nerds like me

I was offered a corner room. The room size was larger, and and the amount of natural light the massive floor-to-ceiling windows let in was awesome. The Westin heavenly bed did not disappoint either, and the overall modern and sleek design was attractive to me. My only complaint – the room felt quite damp and the A/C did not do a great job getting rid of the humidity. As a result the bedsheet and duvet felt a little sticky which was not ideal.

Room overview

The lounge was closed during my stay, but I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that the hotel was offering hot food in the restaurant in lieu of afternoon hors d’oeuvre in the lounge. I got to enjoy their soup of the day as well as a nice made-to-order salad – much better than your typical lounge offerings I’d say. Breakfast was also offered in the restaurant and was also made to order, quality of food was also great.

Lounge fare

All things considered I am very happy with what this hotel delivered during my short stay. This will be my go-to for my next trip into/out of/connecting through YVR.
