(short review)

After a long and cold drive through Newfoundland in late-October snow, “cozy” was my first impression to the hotel upon my arrival. Built as a typical highway hotel, I liked the efficiency vibe and functional designs, but a facelift would have been nice.

Jacuzzi and fireplace, very cozy

Check-in was fast and laid-back, but lacking in hospitality, and the same can be said to most service-related encounters I had at this hotel. Breakfast service was good, with a limited but acceptable (as expected) hot food selection. My room also had a great view of the mountain. Only issue (or anomaly) I experienced was that although I greatly appreciate my upgrade into a Jacuzzi suite, the water was yellow to brown-ish in colour which was slightly off-putting. Tap water did come out slightly discoloured, so either the hotel needed to check the waterline, or it was just a Deer Lake quirk. Apart from this though I did enjoy my stay.

View from my room

Being one of the closest midscale branded hotel to Gros Morne and the only one in Deer Lake, it’s not like I had lots of options, but this hotel did deliver.
